Only true if one believes any part of the the now-discredited Boy Scout "leader"'s version of events. As I read the article reporting the results of the investigation, no incident involving a gun ever happened.

It specifically says, here quoting:

"The agency reviewed videos and talked to adults with the group and the agents, and found no proof to back up the gun claims, which the Boy Scout leader said came from "several Scouts." The Boy Scout leader did not make the boys available for questioning, the Aug. 18 press release said." end quote.

O.K. folks, IF the Agent had (see below for what really took place) pointed his weapon to "cover" the Scout who was digging in an overhead carrier and not complying with the Agent's order to "show me your hands", what do we actually have here? Answer: An armed Agent in uniform performing his official duties at an official government border crossing, giving voice commands/orders to comply and ultimately at the end of his shift, trying to get home to his wife and three boys in one piece.

His level of force was: Officer presence and Officer voice commands. Period. No firearm was discharged. When the situation was no longer a threat to the Officer he would have holstered an unfired weapon. End of shift, he goes home to family.

CBP cameras do not lie and investigators at a very high level in CBP would have viewed the footage. If the investigation had determined that the Agent had NOT followed CBP policy, the Agent would have been disciplined and or terminated.

Land border crossings can be quick, easy, and uneventful if one does as others on RV.net have suggested. Windows down, radios/cell phones off, vehicle off, both hands visible on EVERY person, eye contact with Agent, LISTEN to the Agent's question and answer accurately & truthfully, don't try to be overly friendly or a comedian, have Identification & other documents available and pass to the Agent AFTER he asks for what he needs. Any more on your part may raise flags and the Agent may require further inspection before you are allowed entry into the USA.

Do you s'pose the perpetrator of the lie will now be made to pay the $19,000.00 cost of the investigation? And will he be reprimanded or in any other way disciplined by BSA, the organization he represents??

We live in a world full of stress and death. With the www and 200 cable channels we hear it all if we listen. In time that messes with minds. My son is working on his Eagle Scout requirements and the story got my attention.

A few weeks ago we found crossing into Canada to be low key but not as low key crossing back into the USA but nothing out of the way. This was in ND using crossings north of Minot and Rugby.

Frances: That is not quite fair. It was BS LEADERS in the rock incident. It was also LEADERS that reportedly gave the border agent "attitude" that started the whole issue.

I say BS needs to investigate background and indoctrinate new leaders much better to avoid future poor behavior.

The term "Boy Scout" used to carry weight as a sign of honor and moral code. Sadly, that is no longer the case.

Even more interesting, is the claim that those rocks are 20 million years old. But that would be a really long discussion, probably best suited best for winter. :B
