Bridge closure in Louisiana
Just an FYI for anyone driving along I-10 through the Baton Rouge area. The Sunshine bridge over the Mississippi River on Hwy. 70 will be closed for an indeterminate amount of time, predictions are up to 4 months or longer. The bridge was recently hit by a barge and will need substantial repairs.
While most travelers won't be affected just be aware that commuters are now being directed over the I-10 bridge and the Vacherie/Gramercy bridge. This will increase the traffic over the I-10 bridge in Baton Rouge, especially early mornings and afternoon commute drive times.
