As long as there is veterinary documents that are current for vaccines for rabies, and that the vet has checked For ticks, worms, mange and other deasease and that the dog is in good over all healt, there should be no problem at the borders, in other words a dog passport.
Check on the internet Customs and Border Protection, Agriculture Department for the documents required, same goes for Canada.
It is nice to know that we are anonymous posters, some of us have travelled, studied, or lived in Mexico for many years and travelled acrost the Mexico-US border with dogs and cats, so my anonimous compatriotas let us answer with the collective knowledge that we poses.
