Bringing rocks to Canada?

West of Calgary a few dozen miles, there is a large pile of rocks that extends about 1000 miles north & south from there. You might find something you can use there & not have to worry about customs!!

I'll be using them for Penjing - a form of landscaping bonsai with the rocks. Another application will be for roots over rocks - another bonsai technique.

By the way, Arizona is an outstanding place for rock hunting.

Please don't bring us any more rocks. Our country has enough. The US being smaller than Canada, a few hundred lbs of rock might be missed, LOL

You can not remove any rock or other natural material from any provincial or federal parks in Canada. Years ago we would bring back "muskoka" rock every time we camped, a couple at a time, from the side of the road. . You now are not allowed to do that. I brought back 15lbs of little rocks from BC and a lot of amethyst from northern Ontario.

The thread on this forum certainly implies no restrictions

I went to the web-page the Canadian government runs to help people avoid issues and could not find any support for the idea that "Canada bans minerals/rocks/etc"

No dice- too much packaging. Hizzoner The Mayor measures his "rock" by the gram, and Mr. Bieber's rocks are all in his head. Extraction could be messy in both cases...

Sometimes I think we did 'cause we kept the Oregon Territory...but other times I think you did 'cause there're a whole lot of folks now living in that territory that you don't have to give free health care to! ;)
