Sadly, It can be true. After a few days you may become numb to the breathtaking views, and the quiet relaxed driving speeds. Wild animals along the roadside, and the friendly folk of the mountains.
Also. IF you make it to Linville. You may as well go on to Boone, and Blowing Rock. It's only another 20 or so miles, and one of the best access roads. 321. Runs right back down to I-40. but then so does 221, 126, and 226, and 80. But you DO NOT want to come down 80, or 226.
