The Yukon was the area of the continent that was used to plan attractions at Disneyland and their nature series. Actually, looks just like the ones here in Kansas.

As Lwiddis suggested, I misremembered a little. They are indeed a different subspecies, but not a different species. The wood bison tend to be a bit bigger and heavier and a little differently built than the plains bison. All are impressive animals, somehow both majestic and (in my opinion) somewhat ugly at the same time. Seeing them is a treat, particularly since there are no bison of any sort to be found in Vermont.

Thank you for the nice comments. Glad you enjoyed the pictures. We took about 2000 pictures of scenery, wildlife, and fish. Amazing trip.

The best photos are on our family blog. Had a wonderful summer until my DW stepped off the back deck of the TC and landed on her back on the gravel. Cut the trip short 5 or 6 weeks. All is well now. Very thankful. Even old people can heal up.

The Yukon is a marvelous place indeed, and it's always a treat to see wildlife.
