Buffalo, NY To Acadia National Park, Maine

Hello, I am planning a summer trip from Buffalo to Acadia National Park. What must sees are along the way in Vermont and New Hampshire?

Also, any camp grounds, 30 amp and at least electric near Acadia National Park that you suggest? Thanks for any suggestions.
  • Quechee Gorge, Quechee VT. We stayed at the Quechee-Pine Valley KOA in White River Junction. The Cabot Cheese Visitor Center in Cabot VT is interesting. Also Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory Tour in Waterbury VT. We took the northern route to Plattsburgh NY and took the ferry across Lake Champlain to Grand Isle VT. Stayed at Apple Island RV Resort. None of the VT state parks have hookups. Check Trip Advisor for the top 10 things to do in VT and NH.
  • If you have the time go to Troy and take Rt7 to Rt4 across VT & NH heck of a ride.
  • Must sees depend a lot on what interests you.

The Shelburne Museum is easily worth a full day; there's a lot of varied things to see there.

There's a lot to see in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, many scenic areas and parks and the cog railway, as well as more typical touristy things.

The Fairbanks Museum in St Johnsbury, VT is an interesting stop. It's mainly a natural history museum, with some other rather eclectic items and collections. I think it's interesting as much as a museum museum, if you will; it in some ways hasn't changed a great deal in quite a few decades. The city library ("Athenaium") a few blocks away has a fine little art gallery as well (and is a neat building in its own right).
