152 doesn't go to San Juan Bautista; the road west over from 5 goes into Gilroy and meets up with 101 there.
It's a good road, 4 lane except for a 13-mile long, 2-lane section between Casa de Fruta and Gilroy. 152 is heavily trafficked, including big trucks; it's the only viable route between the two major highways (5 and 101) in the "central" CA area.
The grades are minor, but you will need to use your gears (stay in the right lane, obviously, and don't burn your brakes!) going down heading west. It can also be pretty windy around San Luis Reservoir.
Not a big deal at all; have a good trip.
