Ca. I-5 to US101 via Hwy20?

30' TT going from I-5 to US 101 towards Humbolt Redwoods. Is Hwy 20 a decent road? Can I continue on US 101 to Gold Beach, Oregon? From Gold Beach we want to backtrack a little and head east to Crater Lake.
Any suggestions? Late May to mid June. Thanks!

Or the famous "Louie Cairos," the jewel of the valley. Dont miss the Louie bread.

  • You can take 20 from Williams, or if you want a short detour, take 16 west from Woodland. It goes through the Capay Valley and eventually hooks up with 20. The advantage is the Cache Creek Casino. You can park there free overnight (no hook ups that i know of) and the food at the Casino is excellent.
  • You could approach Crater Lake from the SW via OR62,or from the W (and north entrance) via OR 138.
  • Yes it's fine....

Take Hwy 20 west from the town of Williams on I-5

The drive around Clear lake is very nice.
Clear sailing north on Hwy 101 as far as you want to go.

I can recommend 101 north to Bandon OR (north of Gold Beach) and then east on Hwy 425 to Coquille OR, then Hwy 42 east, to I-5 again, south of Roseburg OR.
