- GreentreenaExplorerwatch for motorcycles as it is a very popular road to ride on.
- pauljExplorer IIThe first time I drove Duffy Lake was in 1984, and road was still gravel. I was in a small SUV, so had no problems with the gravel. Near the top I passed a small RV with overheating problems. The thing that I wasn't prepared for was the stretch along Howe Sound. It's flat and paved, but curvy, and at the end of a long day's drive, tiring even in a car. That day I drove from Mt Robeson to Vancouver.
- chezheadExplorerThanks for all of the replies. Made the trip yesterday in 3 and 1/2 hours. It was the most challenging drive in my RV I've ever made, but thanks to all of you, I was prepared. Glad I was going from east to west! Best wishes to all for your travels and thanks again!!!

This is a view of a flat part of that Duffy Lk Rd, from a side road that climbs up over a ridge to Sutton Lake.
This is a view of that side road, with a real switchback :) This road had a serve-yourself sand box at the top for winter ice.
Another side road
An alternative to Duffy Lake, the Highline Rd above Anderson Lake. The railroad hugs the lake shore, while this road climbs high following the power line. The main danger on this road is the tire eating shale gravel.
Map of all the major roads in this area. - bt41ExplorerJust drove this on thursday.
Use your gears!!.... especially as you near the end and the steep switchback near lilloet lake.
google map it ( joffre lakes provincial park ) and you will see the section i am talking about.
there is a truck advisory sign that recommends 10km/h and the next sign says slow trucks use 4way flashers...
Gear Down!!! - pauljExplorer IINotice that those smart Canadian engineers put the runaway lane at the top of the 15% grade. :) Actually there's another half way down, and a couple of lesser 'tails' on the switchbacks. See Google Maps for more details.
- homefor2ExplorerIt's a beautiful drive and we take it whenever possible. Make sure to stop at the turquoise blue lake for some photo's. Looks like the tropics.
- garyhauptExplorerWhen will I learn to get my directions right..I was thinking uphill and you are going down. If you are 'heavy', then pay attention to the hill warnings. Start out with no one behind you (pull off and let people around you at the pull-out at the top) and take your time. Hundreds of people drive it everyday, it's not like it's a one of a kind, but it can kind of sneak up on the touristas.
Gary Haupt - GreentreenaExplorerOnce of the nicest drives you will do, just pay attention to the road or pull over to enjoy the scenery.

Beautiful scenic drive. Drive carefully and enjoy.
And going west to east is far more scenic than in reverse. And the grade...well, yeah, it's an uphill drive. If a person has a weak cooling system, that could prove to be an issue on a hot day. Other than that...as was said...."a beautiful drive". Oh..and lots of neat camping spots...lots of'em.
