The I-81 campgrounds we normally stop at on the way from Upstate NY to Florida in January are the KOA in Jonestown, PA, Falling Waters CG, Falling Waters, WV, Shenandoah Valley CG, Mt Jackson, VA, and Ft Chiswell CG, Max Meadows, VA. Not all of them every trip of course, but we've found them all to be pleasant places to overnight, each with its own favorite features.
We,also use those 4 campgrounds...and they are as good as you stated...another we found is Lee-Hi campground off exit 197..in Va...located behind a truck stop but not so they keep you hear it....a small c/g with maybe 9 or so pull thrus....have stayed away from Candyhill since the new owners have it.....Chuck
