- downtheroadExplorerWaterfalls and lots of hiking trails...easy drive into Portland and east to Hood River. Nice little park. I think there are only about 40 hook up sites.
We used it as a jumping off point for the Columbia River Gorge.
Here is an advisory:

Ainsworth will close for the season on 11/1/18. - donn0128Explorer IILast time thru there Ainsworth was really tight. Sites are not the biggest.
- goducks10ExplorerDo you like the sound of trains?
- diazr2ExplorerAinsworth is very nice State Park Unfortunately the Gorge fires have closed a lot of trails and roads around the park. There is still a bunch to do see the locks and some waterfall trails are available But check in advance because they are still closing certain sections off so they can repair the fire damage.
- rhagfoExplorer IIIJust to make sure here is the information out of the Oregon State Parks Guide 2017 - 2018 it has a lot of great information on the Parks.
It is a sad thing that many of the nearby hiking trails are still closed due to a stupid act throwing fireworks into a ravine.

- dennis1ExplorerI think any campground along the Colombia gorge you’ll hear trains. Some are very close.
- goducks10ExplorerRead the reviews. One tenter thought the train was coming through their tent. Google maps satellite view shows the trains yards away from the CG.
- patbacExplorerYou don't get to appreciate the Gorge if you don't want to listen to trains. It's just the lay of the land.
After the first night, we don't even hear them anymore... - pauljExplorer IIMemaloose SP to the east is larger, drier, and more open - and placed between the train tracks and freeway.
