First off the Beer in Canada is more exspencive than American beer, but that's what happens when your buying a better quality brew! ( grin)
Yes, most stuff up here costs more, and that's because we have to import most of it from the USA , and them Bell Peppers most likely came from the southern states which is a long ways from here.
So exspect to see a higher price tag on items, however your USA exchange rate on the Canadain Dollar is only about cent from being 50cents on the dollar. Meaning $1 US dollar will get to close to $1.43 . I think the exchange rate on Friday was 68.60 so your USA money will be going a long ways up here.
Also read and check out the links in the Fouth "sticky" down from the Alaska / Canada page. It will give you a lot of info for entering Canada.
Also you do NOT require a passport to enter Canada however it is recommended
Identification requirements for U. S. citizens and permanent residents
If you are a U.S. citizen, ensure you carry proof of citizenship such as a passport, birth certificate, a certificate of citizenship or naturalization, or a Certificate of Indian Status along with photo identification. If you are a U.S. permanent resident, ensure you carry proof of your status such as a U.S. Permanent Resident Card.
For all modes of entry, we recommend you carry a valid passport for all travel abroad, including visits to Canada from the United States. A passport may be required by your airline or alternative transportation authority, as it is the only universally-accepted identification document.
Again read those stickys and the links that those people supplied as well ensure you understand them. I have traveled across the USA / Canada boarder many times with my RV and haven't had one issue, however because I live so close 45 minutes away, I have done it hundreds of times in my life time and usally know the requirements going both ways.
It's a long drive from Texas, but well worth it I think. One day I plan on getting down to your states, I just need that Canadain dollar to come up a weeee bit first
Enjoy what every you plane
