The 1st time we were in Nordegg, while in the store, my wife was looking around and then asked if there was another store in town to go to. The young lady behind the counter answered, "Nordegg, population 60". Almost every other summer we dry camp either west of or east of Nordegg. We'll be there this summer coming. Waterton National park, IMHO is far better than Banff. There are campgrounds just outside the park and one inside the park. You'll have to pay for a park pass to enter. Less people, you're right in the mountains. Cameron Lake, which I understand will be closed to people this summer for construction work, IMHO again rivals Lake Louise and not as many people. Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump is interesting to say the least, Crescent falls near Nordegg is great also. When I was working, I would have 3o days off so we would take 3 days to go 2000 miles to get there and the same coming back. 3 young kids, a hard top camper, a Dodge station wagon and go, go, go. The driving days were long and hard on the wife and kids but we wanted to get out there and enjoy. Now we take 7 days going and coming, towing a 35 ft 5er with a dually. We also go for almost 3 months.
Where did you get the info about Cameron Lake being closed?, I have looked everywhere but the only thing I can find is that they are resurfacing the road and cutting down some trees in the parking area.
