Camping World in Birmingham

My husband is driving our truck camper back to Florida and i am looking for an overnight place near I-65 in Birmingham. I see that the Camping World there has overnight sites. I called and was told there are hookups. Has anyone stayed there and can tell me if there are? He must have power because of his CPAP, so we haven't tried to stay anywhere but a regular RV park, but I cannot find an RV park ( with decent reviews) in the area.

Check out Oak Mountain State Park. They are not from from CW and only a few minutes off of 65. Beautiful park and nice and quiet campground. We camp here every spring.

If you do go to Oak Mountain, get the A loop if possible. The other loops are pretty rough - many not level, close spacing, old bath houses.

Another option is Rickwood Caverns State Park just North of Birmingham. Better sites and not as far off I-65 as Oak Mountain. Easy off/on.
  • Camping World leaves a lot to be desired. It would be okay for a night, quick in and quick out. The overnighter RV's are lined up in a row and look like some of their stock. As someone else mentioned, Oak Mountain is near by and a very nice State Park.
  • That CW south of Birmingham has electric and water hook-ups.
  • Google Maps, looks like there are power pedestals. The website says they have overnight parking but doesn't specify power.

Why do you think they would lie to you ??

I'm about to enter the CPAP world and plan to get one that will run on the 12 V battery source when needed.
