Mexnut: You may be correct. I will check. The new owner is a great guy and he will notarize the registration and send it to be Apostiled( I dont think that is a verb!). Here is what is in the letter:
Original o copia apostillada del documento emitido por el departmento de motores y vehiculos del Condado ( I think that is a typo?)o Estado de Union americana, en el que se hace constar que la casa rodante maraca xxxxxxxxx con de seriexxxxx se encuentra registrado a nombre de otra persona;lo anterior, en virtud de que el documento que usted vendio es el contratao de venta de la casa rodante. Then there is a bunch of nonsense about calling them if I have any questions. I can easily get the new owner to go to the DMV and get that letter. But it would be in English and they might reject the document? I think a copy of the registration might be better? Did you send them the letterhead? I can call them on Monday for clarification. It's only $2.00 for the Apostile. This should be a lesson for anyone who is selling his unit without canceling the sticker. Make sure you get that letter from your DMV when you sell. This could be difficult for Canadians . The new owner could get the document but our DMV's have strict privacy laws. I should have read the whole document but saw red and got all excited. This has not been fun. I was justb trying to followm the law. I doubt I will really need the permit canceled as I don't have any vehicles in my name that are in Mexico. But should Sonora lose the no hassle zone I would have problems. Thanks Mexnut.
