Carlsbad - Fort Worth

Last I was on it 3 years ago or so US62 - US180 was in ok shape. But I've heard bad things about US285 in Eastern NM due to oilfield traffic.

So how is 62/180 nowadays? And, if not good what might be an alternate?

    Was just there and do not recommend the 285 in any way. We did not drive on the 62 but there is no way it is possibly worse than the 285.

    avoid this part of the world at all costs
    far worse than you can imagine
