Your choices are 86/17 to Binghamton and then up 81 to 90 OR 87 to 90 all the way. I would use 90 all the way due to nonstop and service stations along the way without getting off. However, it isn't cheap. There are some scenic byways such as 31. The Lake Ontario Parkway begins in Rochester at the Lake but DO NOT TAKE it, it has a clearance of less than 10 feet.
