MEXICOWANDERER

God I hate it when I have to explain a sarcastic joke.
The Nogales consulate has to be one of the stupider consuls in the country. They voiced a complaint about "unauthorized unannounced checkpoints" on that road. The police and military MUST erect SURPRISE checkpoints. Ya know it's like New Years in the states - do the cops announce exactly where there are going to be sobriety checkpoints?
Oooooo why not? That's not cricket.
Too many Americans seem to have tossed their brains in the closet before crossing the border. I have been given hazardously BAD advice by US CONSULATE agents to dismiss it. Stupid, ignorant proclamations that could have gotten my butt tossed in the bote had I heeded them.
Make friends with prosperous business owners (educated). Ask THEM important questions. I've written this more than once on this forum, I once spent FIVE HOURS at a reten sitting in the shade of a Parota tree reading an SSP law enforcement book. My mentor was commandante Joaquin Baez of the Petatlan Guerreo office of the Federal Police. He was astonished I took suchan interest in learning about laws that bear on tourists.
Mexico is anything but perfect. The law and justice system could benefit by cornholing them with dynamite. But right wrong or indifferent it is nuts to not be curious enough to ask questions and it is disgusting to pontificate to others over matters based on information accumulated in the imagination.
