- BmachExplorer IIEasiest and quickest is to take I90 all the way to I91 in West Springfield. That will put you about 5 minutes from downtown Springfield. And should take less than 9 hours if you don't get caught in traffic. A bit longer with a trailer
- RobWNYExplorerRt. 17 is now I86. It's not a bad route to take and the area near Salamanca and the Indian Reservation was re-paved last summer/fall. Winter has taken it's toll on I86 near the PA/NY border but just for a short distance.
- cbshoestringExplorer IIMy mapping program says to stay on 90 up through Buffalo and across (9 hours). We went east to west out of Albany two years ago. Not a bad route, but that whole Buffalo area stinks, plus you have TOLLS. Nephew had never seen Niagara, so I had to suffer :M.
For some reason I was thinking 17 out of Erie...I think that is what 86 used to be called :h I use to run across that road with a tractor trailer. Worse part was the section as soon as you got on (right off of 90) as you crossed the Indian reservation and concrete sections over near 219 (I think also part of a reservation). Otherwise, it was a pretty nice ride, less traffic than I-90.
My vote.... (X-3)...I-90 to I-86 to I-88 back on to I-90. - WNYBobExplorerI-86 route will save a lot on tolls!
- We_Cant_WaitExplorerX2 on I-86 route you're looking at about 10 hr drive time going this way. Dropping down take I-80 will add time, more hills and a LOT of truck traffic. I=86 has a LOT of areas that were rebuilt last summer. The only real construction area now it right at the 86/81/88 interchange in Binghamton. We run this route from western NY to Springfield all the time.
- leggyExplorerI86 across southern Ny to I88 from Binghamton to Albany to I90 into Mass. Most of 86 are new and low amount of traffic until Albany area.
