You are correct. The "stick you nose in the air" ski areas aren't big on common folks camping in their areas. - sgrizzleExplorerCG's are what I'm finding in short supply of....Difficult CG was the first one I saw. Thanks!
- 4runnerguyExplorerNo problems. Biggest issue we find is the stop lights don't seem to be very synchronized so can be lots of getting up to speed only to slow back down. Not steep at any point. I don't know where you're heading in Aspen with a TT, but parking is pretty limited for a vehicle with a trailer. Difficult CG would be the only choice I could suggest right around Aspen. There are a couple of CG's up Lincoln Gulch but they are first come, first served, busy, and up a somewhat rough gravel road. There are a couple of CG's up Maroon Creek that will fit the smallest of RVs and trailers but they book quick.
- HorsedocExplorer IIHeading up toward the Independence Pass from Aspen is a no! Crooked, steep, narrow (did it once in a MH when I failed to see the signs and then got too far and could not turn around. From 70 TO Aspen is a OK drive but a lot of traffic. They have improved the road since I was there several years ago

Correct, we would be coming from Glenwood Springs, I-70.
From I-70 to Aspen on CO 82 is not difficult at all. You're travelling up a river valley, through El Jebel and Basalt and on to Aspen. Roadway is fine, but it can be heavily travelled, since most service workers in Aspen don't actually live there. - Ray___JuneExplorerWe drove that road many times in the 70's and 80's towing our race cars. It really isn't bad, but it is somewhat steep. Beautiful drive, and the Roaring Fork river is very pretty.
- crabbin_cabinExplorer IIBusy but fine to drive. BUT - where do you expect to put your RV in the Aspen area. CG's are pretty sparse down there. When will you be traveling that route?
- sgrizzleExplorerCorrect, we would be coming from Glenwood Springs, I-70.
- IDmanExplorerIf you are going west from Twin Lakes, you can only take an RV to Independence Pass. You CANNOT take an RV past the pass because it is 1) illegal, and 2) NARROW and curvy. In spots it is only one lane, and it doesn't have guardrails most of the way. It is scary even without a TT.
If you are coming from Carbondale, you are okay.
