Thanks for the replies.
Since we aren't in a hurry we decided to get off the interstates for a distance and drive up RT 95 to Sandpoint, ID and catch RT 200 east to RT 93 in MT and then drop down to I-90 into Missouli, MT. It looks like a nice two lane road along side of the Clark Fork river for a long way.
