I would say it depends largely on the weather at the time. You'll find more help along I25, and more traffic too. Probably all of 15 minutes shorter to take 71. You'll get to stop more on 71 going through small towns.
And more road work. I travel from Littleton to Pueblo on I 25 a lot and there seems to always be some type of work going on. Plus the traffic and some drivers in Colorado Springs are terrible. IF it wasn't so far out of our way I'd bypass C.S. - BusskipperExplorer

Would like to hear comments on this road. AAA maps has me taking this route instead of my usual I-25 through Denver down to Albuquerque. Wondering about the condition - my wife hates when I travel on rough roads.
Thanks.
Coming or going that direction I always take 24 to Colorado Springs then I-25 down, easy and avoids the big traffic mess called Denver.

- IDmanExplorerThe last time I drove on 71 was from Brush to Limon. Road was okay but very boring scenery! Probably worse boredom from Limon to Rocky Ford.

Haven't done it recently, but I've driven the Brush to I-70 segment of this route on CO 71 and it was not a problem, don't recall it being particularly rough. Just straight and boring. Haven't gone south on CO 71 from I-70
