Part of the reason for doing this in the Mexico forum is the need for maps of Mexico. As far as I know programs such as CoPilot do not have Mexico maps - though they do have maps of Europe. So I put it in the Mexico forum to try to get Mexico travelers to respond with what they use to find their way around.
BaseCamp is just awful. I know we can move stuff from our Garmin to work on routes on the computer offline but it is just a tough one to work with.
I am getting better with MapFactor Navigator but it is certainly no replacement for Streets & Trips - which is why I still use S&T with a Garmin as backup. I check these other maps as well as Open Street Maps to see if new roads show up. With all these tools I can have a better idea of what to expect on the road ahead.
Here is another thing I do not like about any of these new maps. If you look at the other thread I mention where I was posting maps there is a map showing waypoint 4 near San Diego de la Union - important to know for the turn off 57D to Dolores Hidalgo. This town - San Diego de la Union does not appear on any of the Open Street Maps programs I have found so far. It appears clearly on S&T. There are lots of missing places on these maps and we need them to be able to find and create the best route. I am able to force this route using Navigator but only because I know it is there. I do think Garmin has these smaller towns and roads but they appear to be missing from many other maps. We can't create the best route if we don't have detailed maps.
