Ez pass is good for most of the east coast and over to and including Illinois. The I pass they use is compatible with ez pass.
I looked at the Massachusetts EZ Pass site and it says it's good in Illinois. However, the Illinois I-Pass site doesn't say anything about their transponders working in other EZ-Pass states.
Does anybody know if it goes both ways, i.e., is the I-Pass basically the same as an EZ Pass in validity across the EZ Pass system?
Using Your I-PASS on Other Toll Roads
"Illinois Tollway customers can enjoy the benefits of I-PASS when traveling beyond Illinois. Use I-PASS anywhere E-ZPass is accepted.* Vehicles (including their trailers) that exceed four tires and two axles, and that are traveling on E-ZPass roads, must exchange their I-PASS transponder for the compatible E-ZPass "blue" transponder available at every Tollway Customer Service Center and at select Road Ranger outlets."
"*I-PASS is not accepted at airport parking lots nor any other non-roadway facilities that accept E-ZPass."
