I35W from downtown Fort Worth north to Loop 820 (Or the other way around) still shows as being a construction zone, though according to the Texas DOT the work is scheduled to finish between early October and the end of December (there are lots of smaller projects all running together through there.)
Frankly, unless you're willing to just kick back and enjoy the scenery of a more rural route around it, there's just no easy way to get through the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Before setting out on any trip through Texas I check the drivetexas.org site and pull up the map with construction, floods, closures, and damage turned on. I find Texdot is pretty good about keeping the map updated. (For example, during Harvey the flooded roads that were were updated at least every couple hours as they cleared, and while they were flooding the updates were almost real-time.)
