Copper Canyon

Did the train trip, up and down. At Davisidero we saw the RV's on the flatbed cars. Two or three years later they were no longer carried by train. We always have wanted to return and visit the canyon floor areas. Thanks for the memories!

Boondocking around the canyon is best. You can park just about anywhere.

Yup, we have stood in snow on the rim and looked down (a LONG ways) at orange trees growing in the canyon floor.

I did what rocmoc did but in Feb........ and yes it did snow in Creel, but just flurries. Batopilas is an interesting place and we stayed in a hotel there for a few days. The difference in elevation had a dramatic effect on the weather. It was nice and warm on the canyon floor.

IMHO, the best RV trip is traveling to Creel and camping in the old KOA park. We had a Ball taking the train to the coast and driving down into the Canyon to the Lost Mission. We went in May. It can snow in the winter in Creel.

There is an article on Copper Canyon in RV Times this month. http://www.rvtimes.ca. They still don't have the digital version of it on line yet, I think they put it up about mid month. May/June is still up there.

Hard to believe how few comments on a trip that always seems to be high on everybody's agenda. What most RVers would have done is go down the west coast to Los Mochis or El Fuerte to catch the train through Divisadero to Creel and then return. FYI first class was about $80 per person each way. Finding hotels on either endc was no problem. The El Fuerte RV park had closed down, but we found hotel acommodations which allowed us to park our vehicles.
