Keystone Copper Canyon

My husband and I are thinking about purchasing a used 2008 Keystone Copper Canyon 5th wheeler. It appears to be in mint condition. We don't see any water damage. Is there anyone who has experience with Copper Canyon 5th wheelers? Are these good trailers? We are very excited to own it, but I have heard that Keystone has made some poor trailers. We have never owned a 5th wheeler, so any advice is appreciated.
  • We bought a 2008 rear kitchen with a king bed slide in July 2007 and it is still going strong! We love ours!

I had a 2008 Copper Canyon with one slide. My suggestion to you is to check the roof thoroughly. Especially the front where it mates with the front cap. On my 2008 it developed a leak at the head of the bed and it was discovered that the factory had cut the wood short at one corner and just stretched the rubber roof over the hole and then pumped a few pounds of sealant to cover it up. After a couple of trips to TX it worked loose and started leaking. My go to RV repair guy took pictures and showed me what they did. He was able to take the trim loose from the cap and stretch it back while packing the underside with foam blocking to help EPDM. Other than some other minor issues it was a fairly decent RV.
  • We are looking at the CC 355fwbh. It has 3 slide outs. Sleeper sofa in back room with 1/2 bath.
  • We have a 2006 Copper Canyon aluminum framed with cold weather package. We've had no problems with it. Refrigerator went out this spring but it ran 24/7 since new. Many miles; many destinations; many setups and takedowns. No leaks and no structural failures. I did take off the China Bombs tires after about 300 miles and replaced them with Michelin RIBS (Replaced last year due to age.)
  • We have 2009 and love it.Has held up very nice...It depends on how you take care of it depends on how long it will last you good luck on your purchase
  • We had a 2006 Copper Canyon. A great trailer and wonderful bang for the buck. Traded it for a new $70,000 Open Range. Only to find the Open Range is not built any better than the Copper Canyon. The year old Copper Canyon, we paid $22,000. At today's prices about 16,000 would be about right. Less is better.

We bought a 2005 Copper Canyon 293 FWSLS used just over two years ago. It was between the CC and a Montana of the same year and design, did not see a great difference except the Montana couch and chairs seemed a bit nicer.
I did seem to notice depending on the model of CC that some seemed nicer and better constructed than others.
Ours is a 32' Dry weight of 9,820# and a GVWR of 12,380#, we find it very comfortable down to freezing.

  • we have a 2012 copper canyon 292fwbhs bought it brand new only problem we had was bad wheel the rim had a sand hole kept leaking air bought it june 2012 had it up and down the east coast ever since probably 8-10k miles on it camp in it week at time and long weekends not 1 other problem all depends on how well the prev. owner maintained it plug it in make sure air and everything else works good luck !!!!enjoy!!!
  • My opinion of the Keystone Copper Canyon is that it is a typical entry level RV. Just check it over well and it is best to hire an independent inspector to go over it before you finalize a deal. You can make the deal contingent on your inspection.

If you open the trailer up and it has a musty or damp smell, pass on it. More than likely a leak.
