I'm new to this site and have a few questions. I would appreciate any advice you guys can give me. My wife and I are hoping to leave Florida for Alaska in our truck/26 foot fifth wheel rig in possibly the third week in June. We hope to be in Alaska in probably 2nd week of July.
We have traveled a good bit in the lower 48 in the rig but never an adventure like Alaska. What are the main things we should be concerned with?
We are generally state park-nantional park campers but will do the private campground thing when needed. Are there any specific parks you recommend for ease of use, amenities, hook-ups, public showers?
I see that many people on this forum sleep in Wal-Marts as do we when going from point A to point B.
What are reasonable weather expectations from say July to late September?
Any suggestions about minimizing vehicle damage, scenic roads to travel, water availability, campgrounds, places to sleep alongside the road, parking lots, etc would be appreciated.
What do you bring along for tools, parts?
Basically any info to help us prevent or mitigate issues as well as fun places to see or go would be much appreciated.
