Crossed at Lukeville this morning

We left Ajo, crossed the border at 8:25, and got the red light. Two women came to our door, one asked for "The house registration," the other, "How many dog?" I handed the registration to one, and the dog form to the other. Our cat, of course, had to walk to the door and see what was going on. She said,"Cat paper?" Handed that out. All three things were glanced at, returned to me, it took less than 2 minutes total.

The truck line at San Ememtario was 3 miles long, longest we have ever seen there. We bypassed the line, didn't get any light, and two men entered, one opened the bathroom door, the closet door, asked where we were going, and for how long, smiled. Again, less than 2 minutes. Caborca, no light, but the man was concerned about our height, so flagged us away and out.

Roads? We got air, twice, at K122, just south of the town of Benjamin Hill, just before where the old checkpoint was, on the bridge over train tracks. Each side, we got air, and then bottomed out. Hate that.

Except for a few, short rough patches, the roads were exceptional. From the dam in Hermosillo to about 20 miles south of town, the road just sucked.

Time? 3.5 hours from border to Santa Ana, another 3.5 hours to San Carlos.

Here in San Carlos, we hooked up with our neighbors who entered at Nogales with their 3 dogs this morning. They were asked 3 questions: Do you have any guns? Ammunition? Liquor? That was it. No boarding, nothing.
  • There have been more than a dozen RV's over the last three days drop in here at San Carlos and leave the next day, most bound for Los Mochis stop over on the way further South.

We leave tomorrow morning bound for Mazatlan, San Fernando. We stayed on the "runway" The roads from here have been described as 30mph for about 100 miles; we will see.

Going to try leaving San Carlos via the Guymas (sp) airport road, a new road in good shape that lands one back on the quota without having to back track the way in. (new to me)

Mar rosa has increased the rates again 58 approx per night, some say around 54.

We leave at 6 am. If one is getting "air" no doubt we will be passed, have a great trip. Tom
