- SideHillSoupExplorerKids drove from Calgary on BC last night. Said there was a lot of traffic and it really slows down where the Hwy 1 was washed out. But by the time they were a little ways past Banff things opened up some. Just drive slow and safe this holiday weekend where ever you are.
Soup - Antigua1767ExplorerThanks for the updates....leaving Ontario tomorrow. We should be at Tunnel Mountain, Banff on the 5th of July. Will monitor for any changes.
Respectfully,
Am - pauljExplorer IIWhy not take TCH to Lake Louise, then 93 and 11 to Red Deer?
But you can still go through Banff. There just will a be stretch of slower highway.
http://511.alberta.ca/ab/en.htmlThe Trans-Canada Highway is open from Banff East gates to Banff. Single lane undivided traffic. Please obey all signage, message boards and flag persons.
Between Bow River bridge and west of Cougar Creek in Canmore, there is a short length where speed is reduced to 50 km/h and traffic is travelling on single lane each direction. - mogmanExplorerI was going to Red Deer next week, via Calgary, but I will now go north toward Jasper and cut over to Rocky Mountain House and then Red Deer.
What a mess, I hope they get things cleared up soon, and people get their lives back to normal again. - pauljExplorer IIKananaskis County is still closed. Dozens of washouts and/or bridge damage on the access roads. Alberta Parks has maps. Mt Kidd RV park is also closed.
