Short memories?
Florida, a teen got shot by a vigilante and then the other teen that disobeyed the Police Officer not to long ago, taking an RV has noting to do with travelling in any country.
That is the same as saying I will not take my RV to Chicago or Detroit or East Los Angeles, common sense and situation awareness is what keeps you out of trouble, travelling any where, in Canada, U.S.A., Mexico or Europe today requires alertness, does tat mean that I will not go, NO why should I deprive myself of something that I enjoy, travelling in my own house!
Today when you check in they might ask you if you want dirty sheets, a filthy bathroom and how many bed bugs you want?
To all of you that do not like Mexico, that is O.k. with me, my wife (German decent) has family and owns a house in Mexico City, unfortunately the State Department issues warnings that are to broad and not specific as to the areas, they lump the entire State, that is the same as stating that if an incident happened in Miami, the whole of Florida is in Civil unrest.
I will travel in Canada, United States of America and Mexico, I do not travel by plane any more and Europe is too expensive, most of my family there are deceased, so I will have a Cerveza for all of you.
Que pasen buen día.

Yepir, it is expensive there. When we are not on a tour there we tend to stay in inexpensive "pensions"(Shared bathroom etc) and we almost always make our own breakfast and lunch. (Shared bathroom etc). We find the demonstrations in European cities almost more of a social event (not for us). They are so common and regularly scheduled people bring lunches etc. They can get out of control though. We try to avoid them but many times they involve or are co-located with public transport (specially France). Talk to the locals and many will give you the heads up on the wheres and whens and how to avoid them. Easier if you speak the language(s) but quite one can find English speaking desk staff or even waiters. Always best to avoid them. There was a peaceful turned nasty demonstration that we barely avoided in Italy this past summer. Overall though we love travelling in europe and can't wait to get back. Our next trip will only be for a few weeks but the one after that will be for three months again and this time we are buying an RV. :)
