Years ago before I knew any better, I bit off things like this without thinking. If the internet had been around, I would not have attempted half the things I did.
A friend wanted his 21' TT picked up in San Diego and delivered to Idaho Falls so he could live in it. His truck broke down and asked to borrow my GMC 3/4 ton with a V-6, but I offered to pick up his trailer for him instead. It was August, I had 4 days to get there and back. At one point the head wind was so bad, I could only make 45 mph.
The one thing I did was hang a canvas sweat bag on the hood to put some moistened air across the radiator. And I didn't use the A/C. We picked up the TT in the afternoon and parked over night at Boulder Dam. Started at 0-dark-thirty the next morning.
I just didn't know that it wasn't possible to cross the desert SW in August. There wasn't any internet back then.
