Is it safe to go through Death Valley in late June?
We are planing our trip out west (from Tennessee) for next summer with the Grandkids so we will be traveling while school is out. Our plan has us going from Yosemite (Tuolumne) to Los Vegas. Not staying in Death Velley. Just driving through. Pulling our 21' TT with our F150. The high temperature is the concern. Is this a safe plan? Thoughts appreciated.
Yes this is possible, if your truck is in very good shape...do it! You will not be here again. Your Gkids will love it and will remember it forever.
120 out of Yosemite to Lee Vining 395 to Lone Pine 136 to 190 Death Valley, Furnace Creek to 178 Badwater to Shoshone to Pahrump 160 to I-15 to 'VIVA!' Las Vegas. Easy Peasy.
Stop in Lone Pine, see the Alambama Hills, spend the night there.
Enter Death Valley in the morning, stop at the Furnace Creek Visitor Center, stop a Badwater (The Lowest Point in North America) and continue on your journey.
You and the gkids will love every minute of the incredibly dry hot breath of Death Valley...there is nothing like it. Bring plenty of water.
Bring your truck up to tip top shape before and enjoy the trip.
It can be done,
Travelon
PS. I have been there 2x in each season of the year.
