Jesse, we lived on Shawnigan Lake just south of Duncan until summer of 2011 when we moved to Yukon. So we're familiar with your neck of the woods.
If you're thinking a winter trip north, then a camper might give you the best flexibility. It isn't uncommon to see truck/campers in the winter here as folks head out for weekend ski-dooing.
Towing a travel trailer on the ice road could cause some gray hairs, maybe. It takes extra care to tow a trailer in snow and on ice.
Small Class C's are adaptable but then you have another vehicle/engine to maintain and insure. A camper would be more affordable, especially considering B.C.'s insurance rates!
Our trip up the Dempster will be weather dependent. Usually March is a bit more mild BUT temps to -40 are possible. That kind of cold is hard on vehicles; our F-250 Powerstroke Diesel isn't a fan of that extreme cold. So we'll be watching the forecasts and likely heading off with little warning.
