Just another false start on an issue that concerns most or all of us - unless you're flying in. To return and drive south past the hassle-free zone I would need a new ten-year permit, as the one I have was issued in 2003! But a lot has changed and once the wall goes up and Mexico needs to pay for it, one will need to sell all their worldly possessions just to pay to drive in! It will feel like 1848 all over again, power conquers all?
Incidentally, we never had a problem doing eight drives down into Mexico, a year and a half of our lives. Never stopped by police, robbed of even threatened. We did about 25,000 miles driving there, yes, got lost a few times doing it, but always a good adventure. Miss the people now we're not going.
