That's the basic route we take when we visit our daughter who lives in Hubbard, IA (South of Ames), except we cut North on 27 and go through Cedar Rapids and hit highway 20 at Waterloo.
Your route is good. There's some construction going on around Richmond Indiana, and some construction between Indianapolis and Richmond on I70. If your towing, it's a bumpy ride. If you not towing, you don't notice the bumps that much. We've never encountered any delays between Indy and Richmond.
