Drive from North Dakota to Banff NP

Thinking about another AK trip from Florida in 2016. Last went in 2007. Considering crossing into Canada possibly from North Dakota in order to see some Canadian real estate we didn't see last time (in 2007 we crossed from Eureka, Montana. What is the scenery like in that part of Canada and what about boondocking opportunities along Highway 1. Thanks in advance for comments and suggestions.

    We took Highway 1 from Winnipeg to Calgary in 2014. Road was rough in many sections, really rough in some areas. Scenery was about the same as we saw on Interstate 94 in 2012. If we do it again we will stay in the lower 48 until Sweetgrass and then head to Calgary. Hopefully they have resurfaced Highway 1 and it will be smooth sailing in 2106!
