- dedmistonModeratorThe OP flamed out and got his thread locked. Not good.
- RLS7201Explorer IIOK teeznu, what's wrong? Cabin fever? GET OUT OF THE HOUSE! GRIN
I've known teeznu for many years and he is normally a very nice person. Can we just blame his harsh wording on the state of the world we're in? Most of us are experiencing some deres in these trying times.
Richard - obgrahamExplorerBeen on that in a DP towing. There's one pretty long climb and then a descent. Road surface is good and the views are fantastic.
- JanssExplorer IIItsyRV...I don't think your understanding of the OP's question is the same as mine.
teeznu...Please clarify...Do you just want to drive through from Bitter Springs to get to the other side of the mountain to Fredonia? If so, as suggested you have the choice of 89A or 89.
Hwy 89A from Bitter Springs to Fredonia is doable. Just know that you will be climbing and then going down about 4,500 ft. Some fairly easy switchbacks, but I believe you will be on the mountain side. Use your gears, don't expect to win any races.
Hwy 89 from Bitter Springs to Page, Big Water, Kanab is definitely an easier drive. Just a pull up the mountain from Bitter Springs, but shorter, less elevation change and easier than the uphill on 89A. The rest is an easy drive. - ItsyRVExplorer

Why would anyone go through Page to get from Bitter Springs to Jacob Lake? You'll just be double backing on the same route to get right back where you were before. - Me_AgainExplorer IIIIt is only 17 miles longer to go through Page.
- BarryG20ExplorerI don't recall it being bad at all. Not the best road in the country but certainly decent. Every RV that goes to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon uses that road. IIRC there is a fuel station at Jacob Lake but cant remember how RV friendly it is
- Colo_NativeExplorerI did it with a 36' MH back when 89 was closed due to a slide and it was a little stressful there are NO shoulders NO fuel. Would I do it again NO NO. But if you have no choice do it.
- ItsyRVExplorerBy southwest standards, it's an interstate highway. You won't have any problems except for slow driving tourist.
