driving from Ouray to Canyonlands NP

Google maps has you going CO 145 to CO 90. Looks like some switchbacks on CO 90 before you get to Utah. Has anybody driven this route? Or should I add 40 miles to trip and go up to Grand Junction and come down through Moab.

I'm in a Class C (towing a jeep).
  • Drove 90 a few times with a 40' MH towing the Jeep. No issues. There are some gentle curves.... I wouldn't call them switchbacks. Beautiful drive!
  • Have driven this route several time pulling doubles with no problems.
  • That drive has some beautiful scenery, because you descend to the San Miguel River and then climb up past layers of sandstone to reach a pastoral plateau with grassy land and grazing cattle.
  • i have done it both direction and enjoyed it. it has been a few years ago so i can't comment on road condition. i don't remember anything to steep

We traveled that route in the opposite direction (Moab to Ouray) 3 years ago pulling a 34' 5th wheel. There are a couple of areas with switchbacks but overall it was a pleasant drive with little traffic. it was our first time in that part of Colorado and would travel that way again if needed or maybe to explore the area some.
