Driving Highyway 99 Lilloet to Whistler

Thousands of RV'rs travel this route every year without incident.
This 60 mile route is more well known as the Duffey Lake Road and is a spectacular drive with lots of coastal mountain scenery. Over the years, the highway has been improved and many of the one lane bridges have been replaced with modern 2 lane bridges.
On the Lillooet side, there is steep ascent then a lot up and down as the highway slowly climbs before the descent into the Pemberton valley. This descent is 3500 feet in just over 8 miles with numerous switchbacks. Using the truck's transmission with 1st and 2nd gear will make the descent much easier on the brakes.
Again, thousands travel this route and it is not the big, bad boogeyman road that some make it out to be.
Once in Pemberton, the drive down to Whistler, Squamish and Vancouver via the Sea to Sky Highway is easily done. This route had a lot of upgrades for the 2010 Winter Olympics and is really a nice drive with some good scenery of the Howe Sound coastline as you near Vancouver.
