Just my opinion but I find 550 to be a very boring drive compared to 84. Much more to see and do and Santa Fe is one of my favorite places to visit. ABQ is a short ride south on I25 from SF. 550 is more direct but mostly flat dry desert. 84 is rich in scenery with lots of interesting stops along the way.
