Durango Mazatlan Cuota, overnighting in Durango

Could anyone planning on doing this route this year and overnighting in Durango where there are no RV parks, please put down where they did it, plus maybe the co-ordinates? It would be a long haul form Zacetecas to do the highway as well in one day. I did some scouting on Google earth/streetview and I found a walled Motel that appears to have a fairly large parking area. It's a bit into Durango from the junction of the north bypass (6 miles), but well before it gets congested.

It's at 24.029845 N -104.614573 W. Coming from the East you would have to turn left just before it and go around the block, but that has been photoed on google streetview and it looks quite passable. Same deal to get back out and retrace back to the north bypass. It looks like there is room to street park & wander in to check it out, from the air. However it looks like you could easily park an RV in there.

  • The problem with Walmarts are the low sunshades they seem to like. However, one of them has a large open parking lot as well.

The El Eden Walmart looks OK. It is also a supercenter which usually means it is open 24 hours. it appears to have easy access off the Zacetecas-Durango highway south of the city.

The turnoff (to left northbound) is at:

    N 23.967929
    W -104.575678

    The Walmart entrance is at:

    N 24.003703
    W -104.653392
  • Looking back in my history files there are old posts about a motel/hotel that used to have RV parking but no more - Campo Mexico - but the old posts said people park at the Walmart and/or Sam's Club - no info given about where they are.
