El Pozo Trailer Park, Patzcuaro
El Pozo is open, we just spent 4 nights there.
Here's the scoop. There are 4 owners, one died. He was the one who paid the electric bill, property taxes, gas and Roman, the man who's family has lived there and run it since the beginning. His widow is paying nothing.
Just before Dia de los Muertos, Roman scraped together the funds to pay the electric bill for 2 months, knowing that he'd have a lot of business. When we pulled in on Nov 1, there were 36 tents! They all left the second, but it took care of the bills, and groceries for his family.
After much discussion, we paid for our 4 nights, and contributed 200p to the cause.
Roman is certain he can be open through March, 2015. IF you have any questions as to whether he is open, call this number, 434-342-0937 his daughters, and simply say, "El trailer park, es abierto?" and you'll get a yes or a no.
When we left there this morning, there were already two other people in, a VW van and a tent trailer. Hopefully it will keep on rolling.
He is working with the tourist department in hopes of help. He has also planned with his neighbor, second home toward town, and they are going to set up a small park there, if necessary. It too is a very workable site. They are already planning on enlarging the entrance and not having an arch over the top.
We hate to lose another RV park!
