EZ Pass

I know this has been discussed. I've read previous responses. Here's my question. We will be pulling a 25ft TT thru PA/Ohio about 2-3 times a year. Do you folks think it is worth getting the EZ pass? One time, I almost had a heart attack because I forget we were towing and only brought enough toll money for a car. Luckily I was able to scrap it up. I'm all about speed and convenience at the toll booths. What account would you set it up with? I check my on-line banking statement every day, and was thinking that this would be the best. TIA for you help.

  • i know ez pass users are given a 25% discount on the pa turnpike. dont know about ohio but will know soon as we will be heading out to indianapolis on the 30th.
  • We just got an I-Pass. I don't know about the other transponders, but you no longer need to specify a trailer. Just your vehicle. They automatically deduct what is needed when you pull a trailer. The magic of technology!
  • Like 2chiefsRus I have an I-pass but I assume that what I have to say applies to EZ pass as well. We don't use it very often either but it sure is convenient. Other than having to prepay $40 into the "toll bank," I am only out a $10 deposit. To me its worth it.

If the terms for EX pass aren't as friendly, check out I pass. I think they will mail a transponder anywhere. I think Indiana calls theirs I Zoom. It too is compatible and their terms may be better.
  • I have never had an EZ pass so don't know their system very well. I went with an I-PASS which is good on roads where the EZ-Pass is except for some parking if I recall correctly. I went with the I-Pass because they don't charge inactivity fees when the pass isn't used. I have it automatically set up to charge to my credit card when the balance reaches a designated low balance.
