Favorite scenic drive?

I'm looking forward to retirement in two years and plan on taking a long trip from Florida to Alaska and back. I'm looking for scenic drives and side trips. What is your favorite scenic stretch and is it an RV-Safe route? (i.e., no low underpasses or 5 ton limit bridges.)

  • Could we do this in 49 separate threads? I took us years to visit each continental state and it would take as long to list favorites in each state. Skyline Drive and BRP, are really big experiences but just itsy bitsy portions of more than one state.

If I would have to pick one, I would not try.
  • I use http://scenicbyways.info.
This gives you all scenic drives by state.

    X2

I will add the Natchez Trace
  • I just did a general internet google search entitled, "Scenic Routes" and got enough reading material that would keep me busy for a long time.
  • Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah NP and the entire Blue Ridge Parkway.

  • Scenic stretches from Florida to Alaska and back? This could be the longest thread ever - there will be thousands of possible replies. And with no even slight mention of a general route you will have people taking you up both coasts and hundreds of variations thru the middle.

I could name many dozen things myself but will hold off at this point. If it becomes more definitive I will add some things.
