The ferry is more expensive; however, the road trip is about 160 miles so even with the added cost of the ferry vs the bridge, I'm ahead money-wise, as well as time-wise.
When we travel to Vancouver Island, we avoid the Port Angeles-Victoria route due to potential rough crossings. We take the Sidney-Anacortes route which so far has always been smooth. It doesn't take much for my wife to get very ill. It's for that reason that we haven't planned a trip to Newfoundland.
