Hi
We'll be driving through British Columbia, Yukon and Alaska this summer and I have a question about fishing. I would like to take my standard rod and spinner reel (I don't fly fish) and cast into whatever body of water we might be camped near, to catch a pan fish for dinner. Don't want to make a massive project of this effort, but do want some useful information. Just the act of fishing is fun ... catching or not. Catching would be preferable. I'll need a license for each territory. Is there any clear resource materials on an appropriate mix of tackle, how to catch an 'easy get' fish, what kinds of fish I might catch this way. Is this a crazy idea? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
I highly recommend the Highway Angler book. Unless you have a friend going on the ocean requires a charter and they provide all the gear. I really enjoy the small lakes and creeks. Check out this post about what to pack for the the outdoors.
