Fishing Question

Hi
We'll be driving through British Columbia, Yukon and Alaska this summer and I have a question about fishing. I would like to take my standard rod and spinner reel (I don't fly fish) and cast into whatever body of water we might be camped near, to catch a pan fish for dinner. Don't want to make a massive project of this effort, but do want some useful information. Just the act of fishing is fun ... catching or not. Catching would be preferable. I'll need a license for each territory. Is there any clear resource materials on an appropriate mix of tackle, how to catch an 'easy get' fish, what kinds of fish I might catch this way. Is this a crazy idea? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

  • Probably every body of water with fish has a fishing report. I'm currently on my bucket list in east Texas for bass fishing and review fishing reports and forums for tackle, locations and latest trends. Your trip sounds like fun too! Guess I'll just add to my bucket list. Post some photos too!
  • I'm curious about this, too. Can you get just one license for BC or do you need local licenses?
