- n7bsnExplorer...just saw a photo of the grounds, under water
- bradykExplorerYes it is brutal here in cowtown. Just heard that the water at the Saddledome was up to row 10 in the seats in the Stampede grounds. Anything near any of the local rivers is way under water. The main river (Bow) is still rising and things are expected to get worse as the day goes on. Looks like stuff you see after hurricanes and such not in the dry area we live in for the most part. Rain is also still pouring west of here in the mountains today and will have to run through town over the next few days so it will probably be a while. Banff and Canmore west of us are pretty much cut off as bridges and roads are washing away. Going to be a tough Stampede and tourist run over the next few weeks depending on when things settle down and can get things repaired. Click on the link and you can see pics of the Stampede grounds area taken this morning.

The Center Street bridge looks bad, the lower causeway underwater! - ImpkittiExplorerI have two cousins that live in Calgary. Both are in "safe" areas, but with all the detours, it took one of them 1.5 hours to get home from work. Usually it takes her 20 minutes.
- Little_KopitExplorerI'm no Calgarian.
But my view of the economic powers that be makes me pretty willing to bet there will be a stampede, come what may.
Like those who make the decisions are as busy trying to figure how to make a stampede happen to bring $ into the region as they are trying to keep everyone there now safe.
:C - Little_KopitExplorerYep,
The city's Scotiabank Saddledome and the Stampede grounds were flooded as of mid-afternoon. However, the mayor said the grounds would be ready for Calgary's annual Stampede, which is scheduled to run July 5-14.
"You know what? We’re Calgarians," said Nenshi. "We'll make it work."
